saving the party

This week I aged- like Rip Van Winkle kind of aging where one day I’m myself and the next day I’m ancient. My baby sister turned 21. While I was super excited to celebrate with her it made me feel suddenly dumbfounded by how much time truly does fly. At any rate, I bought her some shiny earrings, I took her out for about 8 hours of shopping (literally) where according to my pedometer we walked like 4 miles and then out to dinner to regain our strength at one of her favorite restaurants.

She ordered her first legal drink and after she was carded commented how anticlimactic it was and I remembered back to my 21st birthday, which was full of dancing, gambling, and lots and lots of alcohol.

So, while I felt even older reminiscing about that time, I set out to make sure she could share a little of that thrill at her big birthday dinner/Cinco de Mayo this weekend knowing her friends couldn’t be counted on (I mean I am the big sister).

Thus I created a party in a basket. It needed to be fun and colorful and scream party!! After patiently gluing 10 varied mini bottles to skewers wrapped in good old pipe cleaners and then throwing in some much needed bar tools and some mustaches just for fun- I think it turned out pretty awesome. I can’t wait to give it to her this weekend.

And if you haven’t noticed I was lazy enough to do it all in bed 😉
